PENGARUH KEGIATAN MADATUKAR TERHADAP INDEKS MASSA TUBUH (BMI) TARUNA/MAHASISWA POLITEKNIK PELAYARAN SORONG
Abstract
Kesehatan fisik merupakan aspek penting dalam menunjang kesiapan mahasiswa Politeknik Pelayaran Sorong sebagai calon pelaut profesional. Salah satu indikator kesehatan fisik yang dapat diukur secara sederhana adalah Indeks Massa Tubuh (Body Mass Index/BMI). Kegiatan Madatukar, sebagai program wajib bagi mahasiswa, dirancang untuk meningkatkan kebugaran jasmani, kedisiplinan, serta ketahanan mental melalui aktivitas fisik yang terstruktur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kegiatan Madatukar terhadap perubahan BMI mahasiswa angkatan 18 dari tiga program studi, yaitu Nautika, Teknika, dan Manajemen Transportasi Laut (MTL). Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pretest-posttest, di mana BMI mahasiswa diukur sebelum dan sesudah pelaksanaan kegiatan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya perubahan signifikan pada nilai BMI mahasiswa setelah mengikuti program, meskipun tingkat perubahannya berbeda antarprodi. Mahasiswa prodi Teknika menunjukkan penurunan rata-rata BMI yang lebih konsisten dibanding Nautika dan MTL, yang cenderung bervariasi. Perbedaan ini dapat disebabkan oleh variasi intensitas aktivitas fisik, metabolisme, serta kebiasaan hidup masing-masing kelompok mahasiswa. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan Madatukar terbukti memiliki kontribusi positif dalam menjaga dan mengoptimalkan BMI mahasiswa agar tetap dalam kategori normal, yang pada gilirannya penting untuk menunjang profesionalisme dan keselamatan kerja di bidang pelayaran. Temuan penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar evaluasi dan pengembangan kegiatan Madatukar agar lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan kebugaran fisik mahasiswa.
