Abstract

Polusi udara terus meningkat setiap tahun sementara fast food menjadi sumber energi yang kurang baik bagi tubuh. Polusi udara dan fast food dapat memicu pembentukan radikal bebas yaitu molekul tidak stabil yang berpotensi merusak sel tubuh. Kerusakan yang ditimbulkan bisa terjadi kanker. Radikal bebas ini dapat dinetralkan dengan bantuan antioksidan, senyawa yang mampu memberikan elektron untuk menstabilkan radikal bebas. Salah satu sumber antioksidan alami yang potensial adalah kulit buah naga (Hylocereus polyrhizus). Kulit buah naga (Hylocereus polyrhizus) mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang dikenal memiliki kemampuan sebagai antioksidan alami yang efektif. Artikel review ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi antioksidan yang terdapat dalam kulit buah naga (Hylocereus polyrhizus). Studi literatur dilakukan melalui pencarian di Google dan Google Scholar untuk mengumpulkan informasi tentang manfaat antioksidan dari kulit buah naga. Artikel penelitian yang dianalisis adalah publikasi yang terbit dalam rentang tahun 2014 hingga 2024. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dihimpun, kulit buah naga (Hylocereus polyrhizus) terbukti memiliki potensi besar sebagai sumber antioksidan alami.
