Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe students' perceptions of teacher teaching materials, (2) describe learning motivation, and (3) test the relationship between the two variables in the Motorcycle Chassis Maintenance subject in grade XI of SMK Public Works Malang. The study used a correlational quantitative survey involving all 20 students through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a five-level Likert scale questionnaire consisting of 38 items on teaching material perceptions and 30 items on learning motivation. Analysis included descriptive statistics, categorization based on theoretical score ranges, the Shapiro–Wilk test, linearity checks, Pearson correlation, and reliability. The mean teaching material perception of 152.45 (SD=16.20) was categorized as high, while the mean learning motivation of 117.30 (SD=12.77) was also categorized as high. However, the Pearson correlation showed a very low relationship (r=0.014) and was not significant (p=0.952; α=0.05). Thus, even though the average of both variables is in the high category, the data does not show a significant linear relationship between the perception of teaching materials and learning motivation in the class studied.
